3-Day Via Ferrata Course in Berchtesgaden

Become an independent mountaineer! In this intensive three-day course, a certified mountain guide will teach you the complete foundation for safe via ferrata tours. The training covers equipment knowledge, modern belaying techniques, footwork, and essential insights into meteorology and tour planning. We begin methodically at Hanauerstein to solidify the basics. Here, we focus intensely on getting familiar with the harness and the via ferrata set. You will learn the correct handling of carabiners and efficient gripping and stepping techniques on the rock, with a special focus on energy-efficient climbing.

On day two, we strengthen your tactics in B/C terrain on Mount Grünstein, including a summit panorama and a cozy break at the Grünsteinhütte. The Isidor via ferrata provides the perfect setting to apply what you have learned in a real alpine face. As we climb securely along the steel cable, we enjoy the full glory of the Watzmann massif and look down at the emerald-green Lake Königssee. The third day is dedicated to perfecting your skills on the Laxersteig and Schützensteig, where we also cover the interpretation of topos (route sketches) and the assessment of alpine hazards such as rockfall. Things get exciting at the Kleiner Jenner: a spectacular suspension bridge and a flying fox will challenge your skills and provide a shot of adrenaline to finish. Small groups guarantee maximum safety and individual support. High-quality rental equipment and travel insurance are included.

Requirements: Sure-footedness is required for the steep walking terrain during the descent.
