The Watzmann ridge crossing is arguably one of the most famous and impressive ridge tours in the entire Alpine region. Surrounded by wild exposure and offering spectacular views of the emerald-green Lake Königssee, we will climb together across the "King's" crown. The tour leads us across the three main peaks: Hocheck (2,651 m), Mittelspitze (2,713 m), and Südspitze (2,712 m). The views of the Steinerne Meer, the Göll massif, the Hochkalter massif, Lake Königssee, and the Salzach basin make this tour a true panoramic delight and will help ease the long descent through the Wimbachgries. Itinerary
Day 1: We meet at the Wimbachbrücke parking lot in Ramsau. Following a gear check, we ascend to the Watzmannhaus (1,930 m). The trail leads via the Stubenalm and Falzalm to our accommodation, where we discuss the upcoming adventure while enjoying a breathtaking panorama.
Ascent: 1,300 m elevation gain | Hiking time: approx. 3.5 hours
Day 2: Early in the morning, the ridge crossing adventure begins. Across scree and the first secured rock sections, we reach the Hocheck summit. From there, the exposed ridge path leads to the Mittelspitze and onwards to the Südspitze. The descent takes us through the impressive Wimbachgries valley back to the starting point.
Ascent: 1,100 m | Descent: 2,000 m | Hiking time: 10–12 hours

Very high physical fitness required for two intensive days in the mountains.

Total duration on summit day: approx. 10–12 hours of pure walking time.

Personal Requirements:

Absolute sure-footedness and a good head for heights in alpine terrain are mandatory.

The group size is 2–4 people. Should the minimum number of participants not be reached, you will be informed one week in advance whether the tour will take place or if the date will be rescheduled
Equipment / clothing:
!ATTENTION! You will receive a registration confirmation from us with information on whether the date is possible. Furthermore, one week before the date, you will receive a program confirmation with information on whether there are enough participants, if weather conditions permit, etc. – so that the program can actually take place.
